Stiles kept quiet as he coated his side of the wall in paint, letting the rhythmic motions of the brush draw his mind away from all the stupidity he'd had to deal with lately, waiting for Derek to say...something.
He shot the other alpha a glare when no words were forthcoming, he should've guessed that Derek would clam up about Jackson and the whole 'Can't talk to Danny without Stiles' permission' issue because technically Jackson's lack of a sex life had little to do with Derek. He was probably over there thinking about how easy his sex life was going to be as soon as mating season hit and Stiles was honest with himself, ok? Yes, he was easy but who in their right mind was going to turn down somebody who looked and smelled like Derek did? The werewolf was practically hot sex on toast and Stiles was kind of addicted to him, hell he'd wanted to climb Derek like a tree long before he'd been turned so he couldn't be judged. That didn't mean that Derek could act all aloft about the whole thing because as far as Stiles was concerned, if they didn't sort something out soon, Derek was going to join Jackson in the 'not getting any' line! There was only so many times that he could listen to Danny bemoaning his state before Stiles’ libido shrivelled up out of some sort of vicarious sympathy!
When Stiles looked at Derek again he found the other man watching him with a strange look on his face that Stiles’ nose identified as amusement.
“What?” Stiles asked, he so wasn’t going to break first, after all Derek was the one who’d warned Jackson off so all of this was on him.
“You wanted to know about Jackson?” Derek inquired, one brow cocked like he hadn’t just read Stiles’ mind! “I didn’t, you’re thinking out loud again.” Was the bland response and Stiles’ mouth snapped shut.
“In all honesty, Jackson is the last person I want to talk about…I’d rather hear how you were courting me but let everyone think that you hated my guts than talk about Jackson but Danny is driving me up the wall, man. I thought it would be easier for him since technically he got some at some point in his life but apparently getting some means that being without any is just that much worse…though let me tell you not getting any ever is just as cruel so if you could sort out Jackson’s problem then resolve my problem I’d be eternally grateful.”
“Jackson can’t talk to Danny unless you let him.” Derek grunted turning back to his painting like Stiles hadn’t just all but begged for a booty call and that was not cool! One the uncool scale of one to ten ignoring Stiles’ lack of sexing was like a fourteen, at least!
“Yeah, that bit I get,” Stiles snarked, ignoring Derek’s huff of amusement because nothing was amusing about any of this anymore. “What I want to know is how do I fix it?”
Derek paused and glanced at him “If you forgive Jackson you’re going have to do the same for Scott.” he pointed out.
And wasn’t that a kicker? Stiles wasn’t ready to forgive Scott or Jackson, hell he didn’t want to think about either of them and they’re fucked up sense of entitlement right now but if he didn’t it meant harming a member of his own pack, because seeing Danny mope was enough to make his wolf want to curl and hide, whether the other teen knew it or not Stiles’ wolf…hell and Stiles himself, seriously he felt like the poster child for MPD, thought of the teen as family and if there was one thing that Stiles couldn’t tolerate it was hurting family.
Stiles pushed his front door open, noting the lack of anything that smelled even mildly unhealthy with a smile. If nothing else his Dad was learning that nothing got past the Stilesnator!
The sheriff glanced up from the television as Stiles passed him “You’ve got a visitor.”
“Me?” Stiles inquired because wolf or no wolf people didn’t just turn up at his house, well unless you counted Derek and the fact that he never used the damn door ruled him out of the visitor category.
“She’s waiting for you upstairs.” His Dad responded, turning back to the TV
“She?!” Stiles spluttered glancing at his dad “There’s some female in my room…you just let a girl go into my room? “
The sheriff cocked a brow at him in an expression that clearly meant he was regretting all the times he’d dropped Stiles on the head as a baby and that was not cool! How many fathers would just leave their son alone with some strange woman?
“The one that’s pretty sure that your interest in the Hale kid is dipping into the bad touching arena.” The sheriff snorted, smirking as Stiles’ eyes widened “You were thinking out loud. And the longer you stand here interrogating me, the longer Lydia has to search your room…”
“You let Lydia into my room!” Stiles yelped turning and fleeing, behind him he could hear his Dad’s laughter and Stiles was going to make him regret this if it was the last thing he did, which considering that Lydia was in his house, voluntarily, might very well never happen.
Stiles skidded into his room, freezing when he caught sight of Lydia sitting at his computer.
“Whatever you find on there it isn’t mine!”
Lydia turned to him “Are you implying that I would stoop to digging through your bookmarks ?”
Stiles shook his head as he sat on his bed
“Good, because I don’t need to see your gay porn.” She sniffed “You and I need to have a little talk but we’re waiting on Danny.”
“We are?” Stiles queried, wondering why the hell he was listening to Lydia in the first place though listening to Lydia was better than not listening and having to deal with whatever her brilliant yet oh so evil mind dreamed up as revenge.
Thankfully they didn’t have to wait long as Stiles caught the sound of the front door opening and Danny’s voice a few moments before the teen strode into the room, greeting them both before talking the empty seat.
“Good, now that we’re all here. Let’s get down to business.” Lydia started clapping her hands together and smiling in a way that had Stiles’ wolf perking up “First rule of business Stiles, we can’t keep avoiding the other three, it’ll only be so long before Jackson breaks and you do not want to see him cry….it would break your heart.”
Stiles narrowed his eyes “He got to you, didn’t he?”
Lydia glanced away pointedly “Actually it was Allison....” she admitted, holding up a hand when Stiles opened his mouth to speak “No you’re going to listen to me. She gets that what she did was stupid but you were avoiding them for weeks Stilinski, she was worried and I’m thinking that didn’t have anything to do with the others and more to do with the fact that she’s a hunter.”
Stiles gritted his teeth and glanced away. Lydia didn’t get it, none of them did. He didn’t dislike Allison, his wolf just couldn’t cope with that she was!
“Because she’s a hunter, right?” Danny queried and Stiles sighed when he realized that he’d been thinking out loud again.
“You’ve got to talk to us, Stiles, we can’t help if we don’t understand what’s going on.” Lydia whispered as she sat beside him.
Stiles glanced from her to Danny’s concerned expression as his wolf took in the combined scent of their pack and before he knew it he found himself telling them everything, meeting his aunt, what the hunter had done to her, becoming a wolf….he didn’t leave anything out going back to Peter Hale and Scott’s fight to control himself, the way that he’d been there for his best friend even when Scott didn’t realize he needed Stiles’ help.
By the time he finished talking the room was dark, only the light from the moon penetrated the shadows and Stiles was curled between the two warm bodies, his head resting on Lydia’s stomach as she stroked his hair and Danny’s limbs were curled around them both and for the first time his wolf felt like it truly had a pack.
“You don’t make life easy do you?” Danny asked and Stiles chuckled, the vibrations spreading to the others where they were pressed against him.
“Dude if I did, we wouldn’t even be friends right now!” he pointed out and Danny huffed out a laugh.
“Well we are friends and that’s what matters.” Lydia informed them, the conviction in her voice a stark contrast to the lingering sorrow Stiles could still smell on her skin.
“Yeah it is what matters.” He confirmed and if his wolf thought about the way that Lydia would make a beautiful wolf or the way that Danny’s fur would probably be as dark as midnight, it was no one’s business but his own.
The pace lasted a few minutes, Danny had shifted so that he could rest the Grimiore on Stiles’ stomach as he flicked through it and Stiles probably shouldn’t have just let Danny get his hands on Derek’s book but hey, Derek had never said anything about keeping it to himself so he left Danny to his own devices, fighting down the urge to stretch up into Lydia’s fingers when she scratched his scalp just right and he was starting to think that those books had lied and werewolves were actually part cat
“So we’ll probably need to practice self-control.” Lydia stated apropos of nothing and Stiles snorted, turning so that he could shoot her the evil eye.
“My self-control is so kick ass it beat both Scott’s and Jackson’s even though they’ve been wolves way longer than I have.” He pointed out and no he wasn’t gloating. It wasn’t his fault that his wolf was awesome and theirs wasn’t so awesome.
“Not yours, “ Lydia scoffed “Mine and Danny’s, then there will have to be frequent trips to the pet store because sprouting fur is no excuse for a lack of fashion sense and I don’t think I could stomach the matted hair.”
Stiles jerked upright, displacing Danny who retreated with a sullen grumble.
“What the hell are you talking about?” he yelped, turning to meet Lydia’s narrowed eyes “No! Don’t tell me because it sounds like you want to be a wolf and that’s just stupid right? You wouldn’t want that after I just explained the dangers that come from being a wolf….tell me that wasn’t what you were thinking!”
Lydia raised a brow in a ‘oh you poor deluded mortal’ move, “I wasn’t asking you I was telling you.” She stated, slowly like Stiles was the idiot here “It’s either you do it and we become part of your pack or I’m trekking up to see your creepy love interest and threaten to expose him to the world if he doesn’t do it and we both know I’m not bluffing.”
“Lydia, are you fucking insane!” Stiles spat, hearing the growl slipping into his voice but not even his awesome self-control was able to deal with type of funtuckery!
“We’ve thought it over and even before you told me all this…” she gestured between them “Allison told us what she knew and now Danny and I have decided that if we’re going to be part of your pack, we aren’t going to be the weak link and while being an actual wolf might cause some issues, it’s better than not being a wolf and winding up dead because some idiot thinks we are!”
Stiles swiped a hand across his face turning to Danny who was watching them sheepishly from the foot of the bed “It does make sense,” he agreed and Stiles sighed.
“I’ll think about it.”
“That’s all we wanted….” Lydia started but Stiles cut her off.
“And you two are going to explain this to Derek because me? I’m staying out of it and there’s no way I’m going to go around biting people without telling him.”
Lydia smirked, flicking her wrist in a whipping motion and Stiles glared at her before chucking his pillow at her head, grinning when she squealed in horror as her hairdo went the way of the dodo bird.
